We have outlined below a number the answers to our most frequently-asked questions, but should your question not be here, please do get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.

Why should we use WorkwithSchools for supply and support staff?

What kinds of staff can you offer us?

WorkwithSchools recruit everyone from support staff and NQTs to senior leaders. Please see our current vacancies page to see some of the longer term vacancies that we have. We offer high quality staff who have undergone a robust clearance checking process, including good or excellent references for our teachers. We have staff for ad hoc supply needs as well as full and part time jobs, to cover unexpected shortfalls or to provide long term security.

And unlike many other teacher agencies, thanks to the expertise of WorkwithYork, we can offer assistance with many other areas, including school administrators, caretakers, business managers and HR or finance roles.

How do we know if the staff you send are fully cleared?

With all booking confirmations we send a candidate record to the school and this includes;

  • Interview date
  • Most recent references received
  • Right to Work
  • Occupational Health
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Child Safeguarding Certificate
  • Disqualification Declaration by Association
  • NCTL record check
  • QTS status

We also ask all candidates to bring their photo ID on their first booking with them so you can ensure they are the person we sent.

How do we pay for staff?

Our staff are paid on a weekly basis (a week in arrears) and schools are sent a monthly invoice.

We recognise it can be difficult for staff and schools to get paper timesheets signed off at the end of the school day, so we offer a more efficient and accessible online timesheet system. Staff input their hours ‘on the go’ and schools are able to authorise or dispute timesheets easily and efficiently. Once timesheets are authorised they will appear on our system to download for payment. Deadline for all authorised timesheets is Monday at 12 noon.

One of the features of our online timesheet system is that you will have access to all previous timesheets and can export excel records to help with your financial management.

We handle weekly payroll in-house on a state of the art system for our supply and support staff, because we like to do things right and not use third party umbrella companies. We cover fees for each payroll run, pay National Insurance contributions and holiday pay at the full average hourly rate. For more information, please listen to our Managing Director, Bill Colman, explain this in more detail below.

We are very open and honest about our charges and what you are responsible for. You are only charged for what is approved on a timesheet. We cover staff holiday pay, National Insurance and pensions so you do not have to worry.

How can I make a booking?

You can either complete the ‘get in touch’ form on the Looking for Staff page or contact us on 01904 554195.
