The safety and well-being of our supply staff and schools are of the highest priority to WorkwithSchools. Since lockdown we have had a strict “one candidate in one school policy” with a 14 day quarantine period before placing candidates in other school settings.

We have been liaising with schools to obtain risk assessments and have provided our guidance to both schools and supply staff in line with government advice to date. We’ve been keeping up to date with any changes to government guidance over the summer so we can make sure our policies on this are fully up-to-date when schools return in September.

In line with our ethical stance, we furloughed all of our non-working eligible candidates within a week of the government’s Job Retention Scheme being introduced and as part of City of York Trading Limited, were able to top up the government’s 80% to 100% for the duration of furlough. We also allowed supply staff to accrue holiday pay on furlough – we don’t know of any other agency who has done this.

Since March 20th we have continued to operate, albeit remotely, to keep in touch with schools and candidates. We’ve introduced online interviews and electronic document signing so we’ve been able to register an outstanding selection of both experienced and newly qualified teachers as well as teaching assistants, SEN support staff and school administrators.
